:أهداف الورشة التدريبية

The workshop aims to develop the ability to write more effectively for academic purposes. By the end of the course, students should:

-be familiar with the conventions of academic writing

-have improved the accuracy, clarity and coherence of their written English

-be able to evaluate their own writing

-be able to write more fluently and confidently.

:شروط التسجيل في الورشة التدريبية

ـ أن يكون المشارك طالب يدرس حالياً في مرحلة الماجستير أو الدكتوراة

ـ أن يكون المشارك طالب من ذوي التخصصات النظرية

ـ كتابة قطعة أكاديمية في مجال التخصص أو عن المشارك، وذلك من خلال نموذج التسجيل

During the registration, participants should write a 300-word text. This text should relate to an aspect of their research (eg a summary; abstract; biography; explanatory paragraph; excerpt from a literature review, etc.) and should enable the trainer to establish the strengths of each participant with a view to planning the sessions outlined below. Participants will be expected to bring this text to the event and to work on it during the afternoon roundtables.

Morning session (10.00-12.30)

Overview of Research Writing in the Humanities and Social Sciences:

●key notions and trends

●challenges of writing in a second language

Case studies and focus points:

●developing a writerly identity from the literature review to the conclusions

●developing academic literacies (in the plural)

Resources:

●harnessing social media and online resources

●research writing references

Afternoon sessions (13.30-16.00)

Roundtables and focus groups:

A-sharing resources and writing experiences

B-editing and commenting on drafts collaboratively

C-identifying personal action plans

D-shut-up-and-write (the pomodoro technique)
